Leadership Crittenden County

MISSION

WHAT IS LEADERSHIP CRITTENDEN COUNTY?
It is an annual program of the West Memphis Chamber of Commerce designed to identify, educate and motivate potential leaders to become involved in the future of our community. It is aimed at developing a pool of well-informed and well-motivated men and women qualified to assume present and future leadership roles in West Memphis and other Crittenden County communities.

WHY DO WE NEED LEADERSHIP CRITTENDEN COUNTY ?
Crittenden County has the potential to be the next major growth area in Arkansas . New growth – both in terms of population and economy – means new challenges. These challenges demand involvement from well informed and concerned citizens. LEADERSHIP CRITTENDEN COUNTY will offer informative learning opportunities in an atmosphere that stimulates participants to use both new and proven tools to meet the challenges of today and the opportunities of tomorrow.

LEADERSHIP CRITTENDEN COUNTY ’S ORGANIZATION?
The program was established in 1996 and has had over 100 participants. Many of these participants are leaders in our community today. The West Memphis Chamber of Commerce Leadership committee directs the program and is funded 100% by corporate sponsorship. However, there is an individual registration fee of $75.00. Local civic leaders, educators, specialist in selected fields facilitate special training events throughout the year and act as guest speakers.

WHAT ARE THE MEETING DATES AND WHERE?
The program begins with an orientation meeting in February of each year where the new leadership class has an opportunity to meet and see an overview of upcoming events. The Leadership class will attend a two-day leadership retreat at Camp Winnamocka in Arkadelphia, Arkansas http://www.winnamocka.com. This retreat will be April 1 – 3, 2004 and is designed to bring the Class of 2004 together as one team. This trip will be a great start, as well as a memorable experience, to your leadership adventure. Full day sessions ( 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. ) are scheduled for the third Thursday of each month beginning in May and ending in December. Monthly events will be held at various locations suitable for the particular session or topic.

Additionally, in the spirit of volunteerism, the leadership class will be responsible for one major community event in 2004. The Leadership Class of 2004 will be responsible for the organization and execution of the annual West Memphis Christmas Parade. The planning of the parade will require an additional commitment of 3 – 4 hours each month to meet as a planning committee. You will have ample guidance from Leadership Alumni that have assisted in the parade in the past. IT IS ESSENTIAL THAT YOU BE ABLE TO COMMIT THE TIME REQUIRED TO ATTEND THE SESSIONS AND RETREAT.

On behalf of West Memphis Chamber of Commerce and the Leadership Committee we would like to welcome you to the Class of 2004. Together, we will make a difference.
